On November 8, 2025, Blaues Haus will host a public talk in Hannover by Xue Qinghe, founder of Zhibenshe and a leading expert in macroeconomics, to analyze the current state and future outlook of China’s new energy industry.
In recent years, China’s rapidly expanding new energy sector has brought both opportunities for growth and wealth, as well as growing concerns and questions. In this talk, Xue will examine key aspects of the industry, including current conditions, policy directions, the government’s motivations for promoting new energy, and prospects for the future.
Some of the key questions to be explored include:
- Why has the Chinese government prioritized the development of the new energy industry, particularly electric vehicles?
 - Is this sector’s growth driven by market forces, state policy, or a mix of both?
 - Can state support for the industry remain sustainable amid rising debt pressures?
 - What does the future hold for China’s new energy sector? Can it challenge and potentially replace auto industries in Europe, the U.S., and Japan?
